2017 Spring Open House – April 23rd

Invites you to a “members-only” SPRING Open House from Sunday April 23rd, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Email us for directions helphawke@windstream.net

HAWKE depend on donations to care for injured and orphaned wildlife and give them a second chance. The rehabilitation facility is only open to the HAWKE membership twice annually, during the spring and the fall member events. The April 23rd SUNDAY open house will feature tours of the Elkton facility. While the injured wildlife being will not be on display, HAWKE celebrities Athena our barred Owl, Hedwig the Great Horned Owl, Twiggy the screech owl, Dances with Clouds our Swallow tail kite will make appearances. Meet our peregrine falcon “Kenya” pictured above, our kestrel, “Poe” the albino talking crow and “Mohawk” the red shouldered hawk. See our new bobcat enclosure with Cherokee our bobcat. Our river otters love to put on their own special show. HAWKE volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about rehabilitation efforts as well as the experience of volunteering for the association. A barred owl that was rehabilitated will be released at 2:30 Snacks and drinks will be served. You will get a tour of the inside facility and main wildlife outside compound. “Volunteers are the lifeblood of the association, and we couldn’t have the successes we have without them” says Cain-Stage, She has been helping wildlife since 1979. HAWKE depends on donations and fundraisers to care for hundreds of wild birds, mammals and reptiles per year. There is no state or federal funding to help injured or orphaned wildlife. All donations are tax-deductible. Due to FWC regulations you are not allowed to take photos of the wildlife. Please, for safety of wildlife NO PETS ALLOWED AT THE FACILITY or property, No school groups, or children without an adult family member to supervise them.

Although the event is limited to current members of HAWKE, those who’d not hold membership or need to renew can join on line with their credit card and bring their receipt. Click here to join Memberships are only $25 per year for an individual membership or $35 for couples and their children (underage 19 )for a family membership. Of course larger donations are welcome, all donations tax-deductible. If you want to renew your membership or pay with a check it can be mailed,or paid at the event.
