HAWKE, the Humane Association of Wildlife Care and Education, Inc. announces their spring open house, open to all HAWKE members, and will be held on announced soon. This event will directly benefit HAWKE’s ongoing mission of rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife with the goal of a second chance to freedom. Open House is on Sunday June 3rd, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
The event will be held at the HAWKE professional rehabilitation facility in Elkton, St. Johns Co Florida. Email for directions. This members-only event and will feature personal tours of the rehabilitation facility, refreshments , and getting to meet the educational birds. Come out and meet the volunteers and officers of HAWKE and HAWKE president Melanie Stage will be glad to answer your questions. Waiting for your visit will be : a Peregrine Falcon, Barred Great Horned and Screech owl. See our permanent Bobcat “Cherokee” in her huge natural enclosure. Visit with our playful river otters, they love to put on a show. You will enjoy one of our most entertaining birds ” Edgar A. Poe” the albino talking crow and his friend the Swallow Tail Kite. Our ICU patient room, feed room, hospital room and outdoor animal housing facility will be open for the tour. However, for the protection of the animals, wildlife under rehabilitation will not be on display.
We extend this special invitation to current members, individuals who have been volunteers , and those people who have donated advertising, money, services, or supplies and helped with hurricane relief. Guests are welcome if they plan to join HAWKE that day they can email ahead or bring a receipt from our on line Pay Pal account. A single membership is only $25.00. A family membership donation (one house hold ) is only $35.00 – $40. Enjoy soft drinks and homemade goodies under the moss-covered oaks.

About HAWKE: HAWKE is a 501 (3) not for profit organization started in 1987 licensed by the State of Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the US Fish and Wildlife Service to rehabilitate injured and orphaned wild birds, mammals, and reptiles including endangered species. They also have special permits to possess permanent wildlife for educational programs. The organization does not receive , state or federal support and depends almost entirely on donations from of memberships, fundraising events and direct contributions.
